Just Get out there!

Rock collecting is a lot of fun and is a hobby all ages can enjoy. If you’re new to the rock world, my hope is to help you learn some things you need to know to start hunting and collecting, rocks and minerals. We can’t possibly fit everything you need to know in one little post, but hopefully this guide to rock collecting for beginners will be helpful for you.

If you have never hunted for rocks before my best suggestion is to just get out there! No pressure, just get outside and start looking around. If you are unsure what to even look for, I recommend doing a quick internet search to see what kinds of rocks are in your area. You can look up pictures of what they look like, so you know what to be looking for. As a beginner, you don’t need to go looking deep in the woods or mountains to start looking. Take a walk in your local park or visit a nice nature preserve.
